Interested in understanding the real reason Springwater Provincial Park is closing?

Visit us at our table at the Barrie Farmers’ Market for the next 3 Saturdays and find out more details.

Barrie Farmers Market

The Springwater Park Citizens’ Coalition will be there from 8 am until noon at City Hall, 70 Collier Street (directions), January 12, 19 and 26 to answer your questions. We’ll have signs, buttons, accept donations or call anytime 705 737-4635 and we can talk.

Three Stories: Who are you Going to Believe?:

  1. The Ministry of Natural Resources says it is closing the 107 year old park on March 31, 2013 (81 days) because of a shortfall in revenue.
  2. Our MPP, county, township and city officials are working on a plan to save the park. Not a very difficult pill to swallow you’d think because the county alone could finance the annual “losses” for 150 years.
  3. We say the park must go to because it interferes with the real estate development of almost 4,600 acres (almost 1,855 hectares) of park, Midhurst Secondary Plan and Simcoe Forest in adjacent Springwater township lands. This is at least 3 times the size of the what people thought was the “massive” Midhurst Secondary Plan and excludes the provincial forestry lands.
